Turn your simple Java phone with data connection in a Smartphone - Part 1

I am a gadget freak and yearning for a Blackberry or any Smartphone with Windows Mobile OS. I used to curse myself for my Java phone as I was not able to view or read my doc, xls, pdf files on my mobile. I wanted to read the pdf documents, access my mails and viewing MS Office documents on the move. But I do not want to spend fortune for Smartphone either in this recession hit time, when I do not know whether I will have my job tomorrow.

I was thinking when I was preparing for my Java examination last week that can't we harness the power of Java for my mobile phone. I started browsing net and stumbled upon Soonr. This service let me view files shared in my home computer, let me access Skype installed in my system, MS Outlook (you can access MAC mail as well). And not only this you can view more than 75 file formats in your mobile phone, whether it is Photoshop file, PowerPoint presentation, MS Excel file, Visio file etc.

What's more the file you have synched at your computer is available to you even if your desktop is offline. Because Soonr is using the cloud computing, and now you can enjoy the power of cloud from your ol' java phone. The copy of synched file is available in the Soonr cloud, which you can access from anywhere. For enhanced and fast browsing in your mobile phone my suggestion is "please install Opera Mini in your mobile phone. It's damn fast mobile browser and as good as desktop browser".

Some of the interesting features of Soonr are

  • Soonr Desktop: Access your Desktop from your mobile phone and do search, view, forward and share file from your desktop.
  • Organizer: Access your Outlook and Mac Mail from you mobile.
  • Soonr Talk: Access your Skype client of your desktop from your mobile phone.
  • Soonr Secure: Secure your files with "set it and forget it" continuous backup.
  • Soonr Print : Print anywhere on any shared printer, even using your iPhone!

Check the video and and I swear that you will say that you can't believe it.

Now I must say you won't feel that your are tied to your personal computer for data. Data is available to you from your Java phone even when you are on the move.
