eBook creator for your Java Phone

In my earlier post I had discussed that how we can read eBooks in our simple java mobile phone. And I had given a link of the website BooksInMyPhone to download free eBooks. After few days I have realized that I do have extensive collection of eBooks and these books were not available at the BooksInMyPhone site.

TCBR (TequilaCat Book Reader) software helps to create eBooks for mobile phone. This software consists of two parts.

  • TCBR Shell - program for Windows PC that creates JAR books. Linux/Mac version is being developed. The Windows shell works under Wine.

  • JAR Books created by the Shell. Each JAR Book contains book text and viewer program for the book.

The software interface is simple with very easy to understand and within few minutes you can create eBooks for your mobile phone. The ebook is in JAR format and can be loaded to your mobile phone like any game or mobile app without any hassle.

Some of the unique features of this software are:

  1. Supports multiple fonts including Windows fonts, shows books in your language even if your phone has no national fonts. Allows for smooth fonts (if a book was created on Windows XP having ClearType on)
  2. Displays rotated text (clockwise, counter-clockwise) - hold your phone as it suits you best.
  3. Autoscroll -- by page, by line, smooth (by pixel) scroll NEW!
  4. Displays pictures in text (if a book was created from HTML file) NEW!
  5. Chapter recognition: Shell auto-detects chapters and Table of Contents is added to the book more

Well, I have spent couple of hours and built a good library in my mobile phone and planning to convert some text books as well :)
