It happens sometime that I write a mail and mention about the attached file, and forget to attach the file in the mail. Once I realize this after few minutes then I send the mail again with the attachment (writing sorry) or I receive a curt reminder about the missing attachment. What I was doing that I had created a rule in outlook to defer sending mail by 15 minutes. I have discussed this in the Career Saving Outlook tips post.
Outlook Attachment Reminder project of CodePlex (Open Source Community) will ensure that you do not go through this self humiliation. The piece of software is free and you may even download the source code and modify it as per your requirement as well.
The logic of the program is fairly simple, it searches for words like attachment, attached etc. and if they exist, it checks if there are any files attached. If not, then it will prompt with a message box. Then you can add the attachment.
