Annotate, Comment add drawing and more in PDF file with free PDF-XCHANGE VIEWER

If you work with PDF files then you must have realized that at some point of time you need to annotate, add comments, highlight text etc. The commonly used Adobe Reader which is de facto PDF reader does not let you do so. It is good for viewing PDF files (slow when you scroll the pages), However, you can't type or make annotations in the PDF file -those are the features of Adobe's expensive Acrobat software.

I've spent a lot of time looking for a freeware PDF editor but all were trial ware which left watermarks in the 'free' period. I looked for Open Source but they seem to be concentrating more on Linux.

The Sun PDF Import Extension for OpenOffice.org can import and edit PDF's using OOo's Draw application. However the caveats:  This is a "simple" editor, that is, it can't do everything. The resulting PDF's are significantly larger. I have used it in multiple platform and it works as advertised and it is best for one pagers, fidgety but manageable.

PDF-XCHANGE VIEWER Free has plenty of editing tools that might do what you want:

Please do send me your comments about this tool.

Easy file synchronization with FreeFileSync

If you you work between multiple computers then you must have realized the difficulty of synchronization of files. I have used Windows Briefcase, Microsoft SyncToy and some other tools as well. However, I am quite impressed with FreeFileSynch. It is a small freeware open source program of 1.93 MB. It is optimized for highest performance and usability without restricted or overloaded UI interfaces. And it does more than what it is meant for. If you want to use the portable (no install version) then it is also available. Also, you can add this to your portable apps collection for your USB Drive.

FreeFileSynch 1

FreeFileSynch 2

FreeFileSynch can compare the file by their content, folder size or date. It synchronizes files and sub folders and can be used for mirroring files. If you frequently do same kind of synchronization or mirroring regularly then you you can save the sessions aka configurations to do the jobs in future. You can download the software from the Sourceforge site.

Adjust Screen Resolution Automatically for individual PC user with Carroll

I share my computer with other family members; and the first thing I do when I login to my system is to adjust the screen resolution. All of us have different preferences. And this frequent adjustment of screen resolutions has screwed up the driver so many times.

Carroll

You must agree that the monitor shows good result in its native resolution. However, some user may want to work on 800*600 resolution and other may want to work on maximum possible resolution when they work on Excel Sheet. Carroll is a small utility which automatically adjust the screen resolution of each user as soon as they login. It is a small utility (414 KB) and uses less than 4 MB of RAM. Believe me it will save you from the routine drudgery of adjusting resolution. You may download it from the site.
